Illegal extension of the registration for the Medical Council elections in the country
The elections for the board of directors of the Medical Council organization are held in 224 districts across the country, and according to the regulations, the registration of candidates must be completed within a maximum of 7 days.
This year, this deadline was initially illegally extended to 10 days and after the start of the war, it was further extended until June 17.
While Article 9 of the regulations explicitly prohibits any extension.
After the election process was halted, the supervisory board, without legal basis, requested a three-day extension of registration from August 3 to August 5, which the executive board unfortunately accepted, contrary to the law.
This event has raised widespread concerns about the violation of the rights of more than 5,700 candidates who registered within the legal deadline and has caused dissatisfaction among the community of over 300,000 members of the country’s Medical Council, which in these circumstances could become a tool for hostile networks.
Therefore, extending the registration again is an illegal act that endangers not only the integrity of the elections but also the legitimacy of the entire structure.
It seems the pretext of war has allowed the Ministry of Health officials to commit such violations.
