Indictment issued for civil activist Elham Rasouli

Elham Rasouli, a civil activist residing in Tehran, was summoned to Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court on Wednesday, February 28, and an indictment with four charges was issued against her.

According to this indictment, Ms. Rasouli is accused of encouraging people to commit crimes against internal and external security, spreading falsehoods regarding the manner of the late Armita Garavand’s death, gathering and colluding to commit crimes against internal and external security, and propaganda against the regime.

Among the examples of charges brought against Ms. Rasouli are the publication of student statements and sending news about Nazila Maroufian, a journalist who was arrested and imprisoned several times last year.

Elham Rasouli was detained for several hours on January 8 of this year and was released on bail of two billion tomans after the initial interrogation.

This civil activist was also charged on February 29 at the Shahid Moghaddas Prosecutor’s Office.
