Ali Salehi, the Tehran Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor, says indictments have been issued for 40 people in the Evin Prison fire case.
The deadly fire that occurred a year ago during the nationwide protests of 2022 over the death of Mahsa Zhina Amini took place in Evin Prison, leaving, according to Iranian judiciary statistics, 8 dead and 61 injured.
Although unofficial statistics estimate these numbers to be much higher.
Earlier, on the eve of the anniversary of this event, the judiciary announced that arrest warrants for 40 individuals, labeled as suspects in the fire, had been issued.
Meanwhile, Mr. Salehi has not provided further details on the contents of the indictment, and it is unclear when the trial for these individuals will be held.
