Mahsa, born in Saqqez, came to Tehran with her brother in September. Officers of the morality police arrested her. Three days later, Mahsa died in Tehran due to the beatings by the officers. Upon her arrest, Mahsa said, ‘We are strangers in this city.’ The government-led killing of Mahsa sparked social awakening against the government, and the world stood in solidarity with the men and women of Iran in protest.
