Interior Minister: Traffic Fines Will Increase from Next Year

The Interior Minister: Traffic fines will become more expensive next year

The Interior Minister stated that the current fine amounts are certainly not deterrents. Fines must have a deterrent effect. Next year, we aim to implement incentives and penalties as well as increase traffic fines.

Ahmad Vahidi, the Interior Minister, expressed that people can travel on roads with the support of the police presence and feel secure when they see the police.

Vahidi referred to the new plan by the traffic police regarding the incentivization and penalization of drivers and said that ranking drivers is a good idea that needs to be reviewed by the government and refined to reach a unified directive.

In response to a question about whether the government agrees with increasing the amount of traffic fines, he said the current fine amounts are certainly not deterrents. Fines must have a deterrent effect, and the police have rightly suggested increasing traffic fines.
