Interior Minister: Traffic Violations Lack Deterrence and Need Updating

The Minister of Interior stated that traffic fines do not have a deterrent effect and need to be updated.

The Minister of Interior mentioned that traffic fines have not been increased and need to be updated, saying that because some of these fines are very old, they do not have a deterrent effect.

Ahmad Vahidi, on the sidelines of today’s cabinet meeting, told reporters about the amount of traffic fines, adding that we consider the foundation of preventing traffic violations to be based on cultural development and the attention of our dear people to traffic regulations. However, there are some who, by not adhering to regulations such as speeding and illegal overtaking, create problems for themselves and others. Therefore, in accordance with the legal conditions, traffic fines will be updated and announced.
