International Reactions to the Resumption of Iran-Saudi Relations

The announcement of the Iran-Saudi agreement on Friday, March 10, brokered by China to restore Tehran-Riyadh relations to full diplomatic ties, has topped reports and analyses in American media, with think tanks affiliated with various factions showing different reactions.

The Wall Street Journal in the US considered this agreement to further complicate the formation of an alliance against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Daniel Shapiro, an analyst at the Atlantic Council, also wrote that the strategic goal of the Islamic Republic of Iran to dominate the Middle East has not changed.

Jonathan Panikoff, another analyst at the Atlantic Council, wrote that the role China played in facilitating this agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia is a warning to the US not to abandon the Middle East.

However, according to Nader Shamloo, a writer at the Atlantic Council, the closeness between Iran and Saudi Arabia is a result of the Women, Life, Freedom movement in Iran.
