The European Union has launched investigations into Apple, Meta, and Google
The European Union has begun investigations accusing several global tech giants of unfair practices harmful to users and rival companies.
Alphabet, the owner of Google, as well as Meta, the owner of Facebook and Instagram, and Apple are the three companies being investigated for potential violations of the Digital Markets Act, which came into effect in 2022.
If these companies are found to have violated this law, they could face hefty fines of up to 10% of their annual revenue.
These investigations have started while, three weeks ago, the European Union fined Apple 1.8 billion euros for breaching competitive laws related to music streaming.
Last week, the United States also filed a lawsuit against Apple, accusing the tech giant of monopolizing the smartphone market.
The European Union says it is examining five potential violations of the Digital Markets Act.
