Iran and Saudi Arabia agree to resume bilateral relations

Today, March 10, 2023, a tripartite statement was issued in Beijing, signed by Ali Shamkhani, the representative of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Musaad bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, Minister of State and Member of the Council of Ministers and National Security Advisor of Saudi Arabia, and Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and Head of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs of the Party and Member of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.

Following President Raisi’s visit to Beijing in February, Admiral Shamkhani began intensive negotiations with his Saudi counterpart in Beijing on Monday, March 6, with the aim of finalizing the issues between Tehran and Riyadh as a follow-up to the agreements made during the President’s visit.
