Iran remains on the Financial Action Task Force’s blacklist
The Financial Action Task Force’s plenary meeting was held from February 11 to 13 in Mexico City, and according to the final statement of this body, Iran remains on the blacklist.
The statement emphasizes that Iran is on the list of high-risk countries subject to a call for action because it has not completed a significant portion of its action plan.
This body also announced that Iran’s reservations on the Palermo Convention and the Convention on the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism do not fully align with its standards.
A reservation means that a country declares it will implement certain articles or commitments of a treaty in a limited way, conditionally, or in accordance with its domestic laws.
The final statement noted that these reservations have been assessed as overly broad.
