Iran Remains on FATF Blacklist

Iran remains on the FATF blacklist

The Financial Action Task Force’s special group voted again on Friday, July 8th to keep the Islamic Republic of Iran on the blacklist for money laundering and urged countries to take necessary actions against Iran for not ratifying the Palermo and Terrorism Financing Conventions.

According to the French news agency, the FATF special group also warned about illegal activities related to the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their financing to North Korea, encouraging countries to take countermeasures against Pyongyang.

This entity had also announced in February last year that Iran will remain on the FATF money laundering blacklist.

Currently, only three countries, the Islamic Republic of Iran, North Korea, and Myanmar, are on the FATF special group’s blacklist.

Iran’s economy is becoming more critical every day due to remaining on the FATF blacklist, not accepting the recommendations of the mentioned group, and also facing sanctions.
