Iran Urges UN Security Council Members to Close Kurdish Bases in Northern Iraq

Iran in a letter to the members of the UN Security Council: Close the bases in northern Iraq

The Islamic Republic of Iran has called on the members of the UN Security Council to implement agreements with the Iraqi government regarding the closure of bases and disarmament of terrorists in the north of the country.

The Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations in New York, after numerous consultations with the Iraqi government and the northern region’s authorities, stated that Iran has no choice but to use its inherent right to self-defense within the framework of international law to protect its national security. Based on this, it has recently conducted operations against terrorist groups located in the northern region of Iraq.
