Iran became the champion of the Asian Futsal Championship
The Iranian national futsal team, with a 41-0 victory over Thailand at Bangkok Stadium, won the Asian Futsal Championship for the thirteenth time.
Iran, which had defeated Uzbekistan in the semifinals through penalty kicks, scored in the final through Mehdi Karimi, Saeed Ahmadabbasi, Ali Asghar Hassanzadeh, and their successful goalkeeper Bagher Mohammadi.
The title of top scorer of the tournament, with 8 goals, went to Ahmadabbasi, who is a member of the Spanish club Valdepeñas.
Vahid Shamsaei’s students won against Afghanistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Thailand in this tournament.
Over 17 editions, Iran has won 13 championships, two runner-up titles, and two third-place titles. The Thais missed out on the championship for the third time.
Before the final match, Uzbekistan overcame Tajikistan in penalty kicks to stand on the third-place podium.
The futsal teams of Iran, Thailand, Tajikistan, and Afghanistan, alongside Uzbekistan, which is hosting the 2024 World Cup, will participate in the World Cup.
