Iran Women's National Basketball Team Player: I Don't Think Our Athletic Career Matters to Anyone

Iranian women’s national basketball team player: I don’t think our athletic career matters to anyone.

Kimia Yazdian Tehrani, a player of the Iranian women’s national basketball team, says about the lack of a plan for this team: ‘This is our athletic career that is ending, and I don’t think it matters to anyone. Here, only the player gets hurt and wastes their life.’

This 27-year-old basketball player participated with the Iranian national team in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, which was the first experience for Iranian women since the 1974 Asian Games in Tehran. The FIBA 3×3 World Cup and the Asia Cup are among Kimia Yazdian Tehrani’s other numerous international experiences.

In a video interview with Khabar Varzeshi, she said, ‘When we weren’t allowed to participate in international competitions, we had more training camps, but now it’s the opposite. It’s as if we just want to say we have a national basketball team, and that’s it. How it’s organized, planned, and managed is unclear.’
