Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson: Talks with the US will take place in the coming days
Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has confirmed that negotiations between Tehran and Washington are scheduled for the coming days.
He mentioned regarding the time and place of these talks that Oman, Turkey, and several other countries have expressed readiness to host the discussions, but the final location has not yet been decided and will be determined soon.
On the evening of Tuesday, February 3rd, US President Donald Trump also announced that negotiations with Iran are underway. Following this, the White House spokesperson emphasized that despite the downing of an Iranian drone by the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln, the US special envoy Steve Witkoff’s plan to negotiate with Iranian officials remains unchanged.
These negotiations, which reportedly have Iran’s nuclear dossier as one of their main topics, are taking place only three weeks after the bloody crackdown on the December protests in Iran, during which thousands were killed or injured amid the violent suppression by security and law enforcement forces.
