The Islamic Republic newspaper reports that an Iranian photographer was tortured at the Taliban consulate in Mashhad.
The Islamic Republic newspaper reported that a Taliban diplomat lured an Iranian photographer into the Afghan consulate in Mashhad and tortured him there.
The newspaper did not reveal the identity of the Iranian photographer, but in an article titled ‘Taliban’s Defiance in Iran,’ it questioned why some people in Iran behave as if they are pursuing a political romance with the Taliban and undermining Iran’s national interests.
In its article, the Islamic Republic newspaper mentioned an Afghan diplomat named Salim, known as Dr. Salim, who lured an Iranian photographer into the Afghan consulate in Mashhad and tortured him there.
According to this report, following a complaint by the individual, the diplomat was expelled from Iran, and another diplomat was appointed by the Taliban to replace the offending individual.
