Iranian Police Report Arrest of 30,000 Thieves Over Two Months

Iranian police report the arrest of 30,000 thieves over two months

According to the announcement by the Islamic Republic’s police command, in the past two months, 30,000 home and car thieves have been arrested in the country.

The police command announced on Thursday, April 20, that during the mentioned period, around 20 inter-provincial theft networks and about 100 armed and violent theft gangs have been identified.

The high rate of theft in Iran and the increasing trend of this crime continue, and police and judiciary officials have repeatedly stated in recent years that poverty is the main cause.

In its latest annual report on monitoring the poverty line, published in January 2023, Iran’s Ministry of Labor reported a significant increase in the number of poor people in the country and a rise in the poverty line.
