Iranian police sealed the Zhira bookstore in Sanandaj for not observing the mandatory hijab.
Iranian police have sealed the Zhira bookstore in Sanandaj, which belongs to Zhina Modaresgarji, a women’s rights activist.
According to images received by BBC Persian, the sealing of this store was done due to non-compliance with the mandatory hijab.
Security forces have arrested Ms. Modaresgarji several times, and she is currently released on bail.
She was among the activists who were immediately arrested following the protests over the killing of Mahsa Zhina Amini in late September.
Ms. Modaresgarji was arrested again last spring on charges of spreading falsehoods through interviews with opposition media.
The Iranian government, in an effort to force women to comply with the mandatory hijab after nationwide protests in Iran, has resorted to methods such as fines, filing legal cases, sealing businesses, and confiscating vehicles.
In recent months, many reports have been published about the sealing of businesses in Iran, but the government has not announced official statistics.
A group of women, in what they call daily civil disobedience, appear in public places and events with optional clothing.
