Iranian student pays tribute to Qasem Soleimani, Stockholm University holds an extraordinary meeting

Following widespread reactions from Stockholm University students to an Iranian student’s tribute to Qasem Soleimani in his thesis, the university’s council held an extraordinary meeting.

According to Swedish media reports, after this meeting, the head of the relevant department at the university announced that paying tribute and commendation are not considered scientific matters, and the thesis defense will proceed as scheduled.

The Swedish television network SVT reported that Vahid Saadat Talab, a PhD student in environmental chemistry at Stockholm University, referred to Morteza Motahari and Qasem Soleimani as martyrs and heroes on the first page of his doctoral thesis.

Mr. Saadat Talab’s action sparked widespread reactions among Stockholm University students, with some of them announcing that they would protest at the location of the thesis defense session if it were held with such inscriptions.
