Iran’s Foreign Minister invites Lebanese counterpart after verbal spat on X network
One week after a verbal spat with his Lebanese counterpart on the X network regarding Iran’s interference in Lebanon’s internal affairs, Iran’s Foreign Minister invited him to visit Tehran to enhance bilateral relations and discuss regional developments.
This written invitation comes as Lebanon and Israel have, for the first time in decades, entered into direct talks within the framework of a ceasefire monitoring mechanism.
In a statement released by Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Thursday, December 3, it was mentioned that Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, in this official invitation, expressed confidence that the people and government of Lebanon will successfully overcome the existing threats and challenges.
Earlier, on November 25, Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Raji criticized Araqchi on the X network, addressing him directly, for the remarks made by a senior advisor to the leadership, and reiterated the call for the Islamic Republic not to interfere in Lebanon’s internal affairs.
On the other hand, this invitation was made while Lebanon is under pressure from a U.S.-backed roadmap to disarm Lebanese militias, a group supported by the Islamic Republic of Iran, which the United States considers a terrorist organization, although the European Union has listed its military wing as blacklisted but does not consider its political wing as terrorist.
