Iran’s Foreign Minister: The U.S. message has reached us through Iraq

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Iran’s Foreign Minister, says he has discussed strengthening border security with the Iraqi government, and that Iraq’s Foreign Minister has conveyed the U.S. message to him.

According to IRNA, Mr. Amir-Abdollahian said in an exclusive interview with Al-Alam News Network, ‘We have clearly conveyed this message to the Kurdistan Region authorities in recent months that we will not be satisfied with anything less than the closure of all terrorist bases, camps, and training centers in the Kurdistan Region, and that offenders should be handed over to the judicial system.’

Mr. Amir-Abdollahian also mentioned that the relevant authorities of the Kurdistan Region were present in the discussions. A draft document between us is now ready, and we hope it will be signed as soon as possible.

He also said that Fuad Hussein, Iraq’s Foreign Minister, who recently traveled to Washington, was carrying the message that the American side is ready to finalize the agreement. We have always welcomed diplomacy and negotiation and have not distanced ourselves from negotiations.
