Iran’s Foreign Minister: Starlink’s activity in Iran is illegal

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, at the UN disarmament conference currently being held in Geneva, said that Starlink has started its illegal activities in the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the help of the US government.

Starlink terminals connect directly to the network’s global satellites and provide users with internet access without any restrictions, including filtering.

About two months ago, Elon Musk, the owner of SpaceX which operates Starlink internet, said that the number of Starlink devices activated in Iran is approaching one hundred.

Since the bloody suppression of protests in Iran, increasing restrictions have been imposed on the internet and its platforms. The United States had announced its commitment to ensuring Iranians’ access to free internet and stated that it would reduce sanctions in this area with this goal in mind.
