Iran’s Foreign Ministry sanctioned certain European individuals and institutions
According to a report by IRNA on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in accordance with the decisions of relevant authorities and within the framework of related rules and relevant sanction mechanisms, and as a reciprocal action, imposes sanctions on the following institutions and individuals in the European Union due to their deliberate actions in supporting terrorism and terrorist groups, promoting and inciting terrorism, violence, and hate speech, which have led to unrest, violence, terrorist actions, and human rights violations against the Iranian nation.
The following institutions are sanctioned
The so-called Friends of Free Iran group and its members in the European Parliament
The International Committee in Search of Justice (ISJ) and its members
The organization Stop the Bomb
Deutsche Welle Persian, Germany
RFI Persian, France
The International League Against Racism and Anti-Semitism (LICRA), France
Karl Kolb Co, Germany, supplier of chemical weapons to Saddam Hussein’s regime
Rhein Bayern Fahrzeugbau Co, Germany, supplier of chemical gases to Saddam Hussein’s regime. The following individuals are sanctioned
Aljo Vidal Quadras, President of the International Committee in Search of Justice
Javier Zarazlejos, Co-chair of the so-called Friends of Free Iran group in the European Parliament
Milan Azver, Co-chair of the so-called Friends of Free Iran group in the European Parliament
Charlier Weimers, Member of the European Parliament
Jan Zahradil, Member of the European Parliament
Helmot Geuking, Member of the European Parliament
Hermann Tertsch, Member of the European Parliament
Meyer Habib, Member of the French National Assembly
Matine Valleton, Mayor of Villepinte, France
Jean Francois Legaret, Former Mayor of the 1st arrondissement of Paris
Johanned Boie, Editor-in-Chief of Bild newspaper, Germany
Alexandra Wurzbach, Editor-in-Chief of Bild newspaper, Germany
The mentioned sanctions include a visa ban and the prohibition of entry for the above individuals into the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as the seizure of their assets and properties within the jurisdiction of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
All institutions of the Islamic Republic of Iran, according to the decisions of the relevant authorities, will take the necessary measures to implement these sanctions. The Islamic Republic of Iran, while reminding the European Union and the governments of the aforementioned individuals and institutions of their commitments, considers the support, facilitation, and failure to counter the actions of these individuals and institutions as a violation of the international obligations of the European Union and its member states, holding them responsible and accountable.
It is evident that this sanction action does not negate the criminal prosecution of individuals for involvement in criminal activities in competent legal courts. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran once again strongly rejects and condemns the action of the European Council dated October 17, 2022, in implementing unlawful restrictive measures against Iranian individuals and institutions based on unfounded accusations, which is a clear example of interference in the internal affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
