Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson: The new US sanctions go beyond economic warfare
Ismail Baghaei, the spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, described the new US sanctions as far beyond just economic warfare and said Washington is trying to impose its extraterritorial sovereignty on other countries.
Baghaei stated that no government has the right to force banks and companies of other countries to stop legitimate cooperation with third countries and claimed that the US secondary sanctions have no basis in international law.
He also considered economic intimidation to force a government to change its policies as an unlawful act and described its combination with a naval blockade as a clear example of aggressive action.
The spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry warned that compliance with such policies could lead to a return to the era of blatant colonialism and weaken the national sovereignty of countries.
