Iran's Ministry of Health: Online Drug Sales Websites and Platforms in Iran Are Not Licensed

The Iranian Ministry of Health states that online drug sales websites and platforms in Iran do not have licenses.

According to the Iranian Students’ News Agency, quoting the head of the pharmacy department of the Food and Drug Organization of the Iranian Ministry of Health, online drug sales websites and platforms in Iran do not have licenses.

In this report, quoted from Mina Azough, the head of the pharmacy department of the Food and Drug Organization, it is stated that the sale and advertising of pharmaceutical products on websites and internet platforms is unauthorized.

Ms. Azough added that pharmacies are the only official source for providing drugs, and people should only obtain their medications from pharmacies because drugs need to have proper supply, distribution, and offering conditions.

The head of the pharmacy department of the Food and Drug Organization also mentioned that some of the legal cases concerning platforms relate to the distribution of expired drugs, smuggled drugs, abortion drugs, and narcotics.
