Iran's Ministry of Sports Objects to Activities of Iranian Female Artists

The Iranian Ministry of Sports objected to the activities of Iranian female artists.

The Ministry of Sports and Youth announced Iran’s objection to the Asian Cup organizing committee due to the activities of Iranian female artists during these matches.

The Baharband group had a similar performance at the 2022 World Cup.

Ali Ahadi, the Director General of Culture at the Ministry of Sports, said the activities of this group were neither authorized by the Football Federation nor approved by the Ministry of Sports in any way, and were conducted without coordination. We officially and in writing declared our objection to the organizing committee, and after that, the group did not continue its activities.

Fars News Agency criticized the dance moves of the Baharband group and the drum playing during the halftime of the Iran game, writing that despite the dispatch of various cultural groups to Qatar, we are witnessing norm-breaking in front of the officials’ eyes, who have taken no action, and only now have the Ministry’s security and the Federation started to scramble and remembered to object.
