The match ended in a 3-3 draw in regular time, with two of Iran’s three goals scored by the opposing players.
In extra time, no goals were scored, leading the game to go to penalty shootouts.
In the first five penalties, each team had one miss. Iran scored their sixth penalty, but the Iranian goalkeeper saved Uzbekistan’s shot.
In the previous 16 tournaments, Iran has won 12 championships, finished as runners-up twice, and secured third place twice. Vahid Shamsaei’s players now stand against the host team to compete for their 13th title.
In the first match of this stage, hosted in Bangkok, Thailand, they defeated Tajikistan in penalty shootouts to advance to the final. They had already secured their spot in the 2024 World Cup earlier.
