Iran’s Withdrawal from NPT Proposal Nears Final Approval
Mohammad Reza Mohsenithani, a member of the National Security Commission of the Parliament, announced that the proposal for Iran’s withdrawal from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty will reach final approval at the earliest opportunity.
He stated that this proposal, whether in an official session or virtually, will likely be approved with a high vote.
This proposal is on the path to approval while some parliament members consider continued membership in this treaty useless, believing it has failed to protect Iran’s nuclear facilities from attacks.
In this context, the spokesperson for the National Security Commission of the Parliament had previously called continued membership in this treaty meaningless.
Additionally, the spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry questioned the benefits of membership in such a treaty, emphasizing that the Islamic Republic of Iran has not sought and is not seeking nuclear weapons.
