Iran's Press Court Jury Finds Rokna Website Guilty for Publishing News on Mehrjui's Murder

The jury of Iran’s press courts found the Rokna website guilty for publishing news about the Mehrjui murder.

The jury of Iran’s political and press courts has found the Rokna website guilty in the case of publishing news about the murder of Dariush Mehrjui and his wife.

According to Iranian media, the jury found Rokna guilty on October 19, 2023, for spreading rumors and false information with the title ‘Who is Dariush Mehrjui’s killer? Brothers-in-law hired a hitman’ and did not consider this media deserving of leniency by majority vote.

On October 19, the Rokna news site announced that Mr. Mehrjui’s brothers-in-law were among those arrested, and their motive was financial disputes.

Subsequently, a statement from Vahideh Mohammadi Far’s family was released, completely denying this news.

Afterwards, and on the same day, the editor-in-chief of this media outlet was summoned by Tehran’s prosecutor’s office and charges were filed against him.
