Iran’s Proposal to the Taliban on Kabul Urban Development

The Iranian Embassy in Kabul states that the deputy of the embassy has discussed utilizing Iran’s experiences in urban development with the Taliban’s mayor in Kabul.

According to the Iranian Embassy’s newsletter, in the meeting between Mortezavi, the deputy of the embassy, and Mawlawi Abdul Rashid Baloch, the mayor of Kabul, there was a discussion and exchange of views regarding the possibility of cooperation between Iran and Afghanistan in urban development and the use of the Islamic Republic’s knowledge and experiences for the development of certain infrastructure projects in Kabul.

Since the Taliban’s return to power in August 2021, Iranian embassy diplomats in Kabul have had numerous meetings with Taliban government officials in various sectors. Additionally, Taliban officials have traveled to Iran multiple times. Recently, Iran also handed over the Afghan Embassy in Tehran to the Taliban’s chargé d’affaires.
