Iran’s Representative at the Doha Meeting: Decisions About Afghanistan Should Be Non-Imposed

Hassan Kazemi Qomi, the special representative of Iran’s president in Kabul, who attended the Doha meeting, says decisions about Afghanistan should be consultative, comprehensive, and non-imposed.

Mr. Kazemi Qomi wrote on the social network X that at the Doha meeting, collective decisions in international processes should be based on comprehensive and non-imposed consultations, and Afghanistan’s priorities should be considered.

He also held a session with the regional contact committee with representatives from China, Pakistan, Russia, and Afghanistan’s neighbors. Last month, this committee also held a meeting at the Taliban’s Foreign Ministry in Kabul.

The Iranian representative emphasized that decisions should be based on mutual and legitimate interests of Afghanistan, its neighbors, the region, and the international environment.

Mr. Kazemi Qomi also stated that he had meetings with representatives from Switzerland and the United Kingdom, as well as Suhail Shaheen, a Taliban diplomat, in Doha.
