Iran’s request from the Taliban for the return of Afghan migrants to their country

In a meeting of the joint consular commission between Iran and the Taliban representative in Tehran, the Iranian government asked the Taliban to cooperate with Iranian officials to return undocumented Afghan migrants and refugees to their country.

This consular meeting between Iran and the Taliban representative from Afghanistan was held in Tehran after eight years.

Consular officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran, quoting the state news agency IRNA, have requested the Taliban to prevent Afghan citizens from entering without holding a visa.

IRNA wrote that in this meeting, readiness for scientific and academic cooperation for the education of top Afghan students and the necessity of enabling their continued education, strengthening police and law enforcement cooperation to combat drug trafficking, and resolving obstacles and problems for transit drivers of the two countries were also discussed.

The Taliban representative and Iran have agreed to establish a technical group to achieve these goals.
