Iraq referred to the Persian Gulf as the Arabian Gulf
In the official statement of the Iraqi government’s decisions, which was held last night under the chairmanship of Shia al-Sudani, the phrase ‘Arabian Gulf’ was used in the section regarding the allocation of budget to the Iraqi national team for participating in the Arab Nations Cup in Basra.
This action, prior to the visit of Iraqi officials to Iran, has added to the astonishment of observers. Meanwhile, it is still unclear whether this action resulted from an inadvertent typing error of the name Persian Gulf or if it was intentional.
