Iraq cannot transfer electricity payments to Iran

Ahmad Mousa Al-Abadi, spokesperson for the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity, stated that the Ministry has paid all of Iraq’s debts to Iran for gas imports.

These debts have been deposited into a credit fund at the Trade Bank of Iraq, but this bank is facing difficulties in transferring them to the Iranian government due to U.S. sanctions.
