The IRGC announces the seizure of a second American underwater drone in the Strait of Hormuz
The IRGC Navy announced that it has captured an advanced underwater drone of the Remus 600 type in the Strait of Hormuz. According to the IRGC’s statement, this device belonged to the US Army and was on an intelligence mission in the Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC claims that the operation to seize this drone was carried out using intelligence oversight and electronic warfare, and the device is now in the hands of the force’s experts for examination and data retrieval. This is the second time this month that Iran has announced the acquisition of an American underwater drone. On September 8, the IRGC also captured an unmanned underwater device of the DiveLD type near the Strait of Hormuz, an instance that the US Army also confirmed. In today’s statement, the IRGC also reiterated that the Strait of Hormuz is closed and that it will deal with movements it considers unauthorized or dangerous. So far, the US has not released an official response to the IRGC’s claim about the seizure of the Remus 600.
