IRGC Announces Seizure of Two Ships in Strait of Hormuz on Charges of Violation

The IRGC announced the seizure of two ships in the Strait of Hormuz on charges of violations.

The IRGC Navy stated that it has seized two ships for what it called maritime violations and attempts to secretly exit the Strait of Hormuz, and has transferred them to Iranian waters.

The IRGC Navy announced that on Wednesday, the 21st of April, it stopped two ships in the Strait of Hormuz, which, according to this force, intended to secretly exit this route.

In the released statement, the ships ‘MSC Francesca’ and ‘Epaminondas’ are mentioned, and it states that these vessels have been seized due to unauthorized movement, repeated violations, tampering with navigation aid systems, and endangering maritime security.

According to the IRGC’s announcement, these ships have been transferred to Iranian territorial waters for the examination of cargo and documents.

The release of this news coincides with reports from maritime sources that have reported three container ships being targeted in the region.

The Strait of Hormuz had been closed by the IRGC since the 28th of February and was reopened for a short period following a ceasefire between Iran, the United States, and Israel, but after the failure of negotiations and the start of a naval blockade of Iranian ports, it has been closed again.
