Ireland’s Foreign Minister Accuses Israel
Michael Martin, Ireland’s Foreign Minister, accused Israel of not caring about civilian lives and disregarding the opinions of its allied countries during military operations in the Gaza Strip.
He said in Dublin that many countries are trying to end this war. I have no doubt that many in the United States want the war to end, but Israel is reckless in the face of its allies.
He accused Israel of being ruthless towards the region and the lives of ordinary people in the Gaza Strip. According to him, Israel is obliged under international law to protect the lives of civilians in Gaza but does not follow this at all.
Martin’s remarks were in response to a question from a member of parliament who had strongly criticized, among other things, Germany’s arms shipments to Israel.
The Irish Foreign Minister said his country has not lost its moral compass and agrees with the call to stop arms sales to Israel. Josep Borrell, the European Union’s foreign policy chief, has asked the United States and other countries to reduce arms sales to Israel.
