Isa Zarepour, the Minister of Communications, stated that measures for protecting people’s data privacy have been anticipated according to the leader’s fatwa.
Isa Zarepour, the Minister of Communications, a day after his controversial remarks about the low internet speed in Iran, once again promoted the government’s plan to replace foreign platforms with domestic messengers, citing the leader of the Islamic Republic’s fatwa on preserving the privacy of people’s data.
In an interview with Fars News Agency, Isa Zarepour said that Ali Khamenei, the leader of Iran’s government, had previously issued a fatwa stating that people’s data is part of their privacy and must be protected. Accordingly, in a bill that is being prepared, measures for protecting people’s data on domestic platforms have been anticipated.
These new statements are made while hacked documents from government media indicate a lack of public interest in domestic messengers. The leader of the government also criticized officials and described the situation of virtual social networks in Iran as disorderly.
