Isa Zarepour, the Minister of Communications, says the decision to lift the Instagram ban is not up to us.
Isa Zarepour, the Minister of Communications, spoke to students about lifting the Instagram ban.
As the Minister of Communications, I have expert opinions on whether it should be closed or opened, and I present them in decision-making meetings, but the decision in this matter is not up to us.
Regarding the filtering of a regular website, the Committee for Determining Instances of Criminal Content, which has 14 members, makes the decision. What I feel responsible for is strengthening domestic platforms to provide business tools, regardless of what might happen, so that ultimately people can choose. And if Instagram is also unblocked, people should know that there is a domestic platform with government support and features that the foreign platform does not have.
