Islamic Republic Newspaper: Mr. IRIB, why are you censoring the suppression of the Chinese people?
The Islamic Republic Newspaper states that there are various narratives regarding the reasons behind the recent anti-government protests in several Chinese cities.
A noteworthy point is how the news of the Chinese people’s protests and their suppression by the Chinese government is reflected in Iranian media. Unfortunately, our national media and official state news agencies have largely ignored this issue, even though, according to the constitution of the Islamic Republic, we cannot remain indifferent to the oppression of people in other countries.
In this regard, there is no difference between Muslims and non-Muslims, although the main incident, which involved people being burned and losing their lives in a fire, protests, and demonstrations, occurred in Urumqi, the capital of the Muslim-majority Xinjiang province, and then spread to other parts of China. Unfortunately, Iranian state media act with supportive considerations towards the governments of China, Russia, and Afghanistan when it comes to news about these three countries.
