Ismail Baghaei: The U.S. naval blockade is a violation of the ceasefire and an illegal act
Ismail Baghaei, the spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, criticized the United States’ action of imposing a naval blockade against Iran in a message on the social media platform X, calling it a violation of the ceasefire agreement.
He wrote that the U.S. action of blockading Iran’s ports or coasts is not only a violation of the ceasefire mediated by Pakistan but also illegal and criminal.
Baghaei, citing international standards, described this action as contrary to the United Nations Charter and Resolution 3314, which defines the blockade of a country’s ports or coasts as an act of aggression.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson also described Donald Trump’s decision to implement this blockade as a deliberate collective punishment against the people of Iran, considering it a war crime and a crime against humanity.
The naval blockade of Iran has been implemented based on the order of the U.S. President since April 13, 2026, and according to the U.S. military, it covers the entire Iranian coastline. Under this action, the entry and exit of any ships to Iranian ports have been declared prohibited.
