Israel and Sudan on the verge of signing a peace agreement

The governments of Israel and Sudan have announced that they will establish diplomatic relations and are on the verge of signing a peace agreement. Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen, upon his return from his first official visit to Sudan, said that a historic agreement with Sudan is set to be signed in Washington by the end of this year.

The transitional government of Sudan also mentioned that fruitful discussions were held with Eli Cohen during his official visit to the country regarding the understanding between Sudan and Israel to establish productive relations. Sudanese authorities have also requested from the Israeli side to ensure stability between Israel and the Palestinian people.

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also announced that the peace agreement with Sudan will be signed in the coming months, after the establishment of a civilian and non-military government in Sudan. Sudan has been in a critical situation since the fall of the long-term regime of Omar al-Bashir in 2019.
