Israel and Sudan on the verge of signing a peace agreement

The governments of Israel and Sudan have announced that they will establish diplomatic relations and are on the verge of signing a peace agreement. Eli Cohen, Israel’s Foreign Minister, stated upon returning from his first official visit to Sudan that a historic agreement with Sudan is expected to be signed in Washington by the end of this year.

The transitional government of Sudan also mentioned that in the official meeting with Eli Cohen in the country, discussions were held about the understanding between Sudan and Israel to establish fruitful relations. Meanwhile, Sudanese officials have also asked the Israeli side to establish stability between Israel and the Palestinian people.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry has also announced that the peace agreement with Sudan will be signed after the establishment of a civilian government in Sudan in the coming months. Sudan has been in a state of crisis since the long-standing regime of Omar al-Bashir was overthrown in 2019.
