Israeli and Syrian security talks resumed
The Saudi Arabian news network Al Hadath reported that security talks between Israel and Syria have resumed.
These talks are taking place after bloody sectarian conflicts and recent Israeli army attacks on Damascus and the Syrian province of Sweida.
According to Al Hadath, these talks have been mediated by Turkey and the United States, and it is expected that a delegation from Israel will soon travel to Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, to finalize agreements with the Syrian side.
However, according to the report, Israel has not yet committed to stopping its attacks on Syrian soil and, in return, has demanded the establishment of a demilitarized zone on the Israel-Syria border and the permanent presence of Israeli forces in the border buffer zone.
Official Israeli authorities have not yet reacted to this matter.
Israel’s intervention in Syria in recent weeks, aimed at supporting the Druze minority engaged in sectarian battles with tribal militias in southern Syria, has added new dimensions to the country’s crisis.
