Israel Hayom: Saudi Arabia still considers Iran an enemy

The newspaper Israel Hayom, quoting senior Saudi officials, reported that the Saudi leadership is not particularly counting on improving relations with Iran and suspects that Tehran will violate the agreement with Riyadh at the first opportunity.

According to the Israel National News website and quoting this newspaper, senior Saudi officials have rejected the notion that improving relations between Riyadh and Tehran would hinder progress towards normalizing Saudi Arabia’s relations with Israel.

Saudi sources have stated that Riyadh still views Tehran as an enemy and that the signed agreement with Iran will not fundamentally change Saudi Arabia’s relationship with the Islamic Republic.

Israel Hayom, quoting one of these informed sources, wrote: ‘We have no doubts about the Iranians. It’s hard to believe that this agreement will last.’ These sources added that the Riyadh-Tehran agreement should be viewed without deep analysis because Tehran has not suddenly turned into an innocent lamb or Saudi Arabia’s twin sister.
