Israel summons ambassadors of countries supporting Palestine’s UN membership
The Israeli Foreign Ministry says it is summoning the ambassadors of six countries in connection with the UN Security Council vote on full Palestinian membership.
The spokesperson of the Israeli Foreign Ministry mentioned the ambassadors of France, Japan, and South Korea among others.
In the Security Council vote on Thursday, while 12 members voted in favor of the Palestinian request and two countries abstained, the United States vetoed the request.
The U.S. veto led Mahmoud Abbas, the President of the Palestinian Authority, to speak about the possibility of reevaluating the Authority’s relations with the United States.
