Israel talks about Iranians and the US talks about Palestinians
Isaac Herzog, the President of Israel, who has begun his official visit to Washington, naturally focuses more than anything on behind-the-scenes coordination with the Biden administration regarding the Israeli elections and the subsequent developments. This key issue is the main concern of Biden’s foreign policy team this week.
However, the bilateral conversation between the President of Israel and the US Secretary of State took on interesting dimensions. While Antony Blinken focused the discussion on tensions in the occupied territories and the killing of Palestinians, Herzog dedicated a specific part of the talks to the topic of Iran’s military presence in Ukraine and the victimization of Ukrainian civilians by Iranian drone attacks.
The interesting point in these discussions and the overall statements of the Israeli President is his claim of having a special plan during this trip to present evidence about drone attacks in Ukraine. It is surprising that he has officially announced that he wants to convince the US about this, even though the US has already confirmed and reported on Iran’s military presence in Ukraine in detail.
