Israel's Temporary Ceasefire Delayed Until Friday

Israel’s temporary ceasefire has been delayed until Friday.

The war in the Gaza Strip continued on Thursday, November 23rd, due to the postponement of the ceasefire for the exchange of Israeli hostages with Palestinian prisoners. The Gaza Health Ministry, which is under Hamas control, announced that it has suspended the evacuation of Gaza City hospitals in protest of the detention of the Shifa Hospital director.

The Israeli government announced that the establishment of a temporary ceasefire has been delayed until at least Friday. Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, which is the main mediator in the talks between the two sides, said the ceasefire will be implemented on Friday morning.

The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, also confirmed in a statement that the ceasefire will be implemented from 7 a.m. on Friday.

According to the agreement between Hamas and Israel, during the temporary and four-day ceasefire after seven weeks of fighting, about 50 Israeli hostages held in Gaza are to be exchanged with 150 Palestinian prisoners, and a significant amount of humanitarian aid is to enter the Gaza Strip.
