An indictment has been issued for Mashallah Karami with four charges; the first trial session will be held on April 18.
Ali Sharifzadeh Ardakani, the lawyer for Mashallah Karami, the father of Mohammad Mehdi Karami, has told the Emtedad website that his client has been in prison for over 200 days and is facing four charges.
Mohammad Mehdi Karami was the primary defendant in the case of the killing of Ruhollah Ajamian, a Basij member, in Karaj. He and Mohammad Hosseini, both participants in the nationwide protests of 2022, were executed in January last year in Karaj.
Mashallah Karami was arrested this August by the intelligence agents of the Islamic Republic. According to his lawyer, the indictment against him includes charges such as propaganda activities against the regime, assembly and collusion with the intent to commit crimes against national security, as well as charges related to the criminal court, including Article 2 of the Law on Intensifying the Punishment for Illicit Acquisition of Wealth and Article 9 of the Anti-Money Laundering Law.
Ardakani has stated that he recently visited his client in Karaj prison and that his general condition is good, but he suffers from the sorrow of being away from his child, family, and society.
