Issuance of Verdicts Against Students Continues

Despite the announcement of a pardon order for protesting students by the President of the Islamic Republic, the issuance of heavy sentences against students, including expulsion, suspension, and compensation payments to the university, continues.

The National Student Council has mentioned Mohammad Darkesh, a PhD sociology student at the University of Tehran, as one of the students who, according to the preliminary decision of the university’s disciplinary committee, has been sentenced to two semesters of suspension from studies, counted towards his academic years, and a fine of five million tomans to the university.

The National Student Council also reported that according to the university’s announcement, Mr. Darkesh’s case is to be sent to the Ministry of Science for expulsion. This change in the verdict has occurred without a new session for the student to be informed of the charges and to defend himself.
