It seems Qasem Makarem is not the grandson of Ayatollah Makarem

It seems that Qasem Makarem is not the grandson of Ayatollah Makarem.

In an Event 24 report titled ‘Who is Qasem Makari Shirazi, the arrested manager in the Ministry of Roads?’, Ryan Hosseini delved into his background. A part of this report states that before Qasem Makarem Shirazi’s arrest, there was no information about him, and no one knew even his managerial background, which led to his appointment as an inspector and special advisor to the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development. Some media, considering his surname, have said that this person is the grandson of Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi. However, there has been no official confirmation of this.

In the integrity pledge that Makarem himself published, his name is listed as Mohammad Qasem, son of Akbar. In the biographies published so far about Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi, there is no mention of a child named Akbar. Therefore, it seems he is not the grandson of Ayatollah Makarem, and if there is a relation, it is another relation that is not known. Some have said he is the son of Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi’s brother.
