Italy is present in Erbil as part of an international force, and its troops are engaged in training the security forces of Iraqi Kurdistan

The Italian Ministry of Defense has stated that the attack resulted in no casualties

Antonio Tajani, the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, also wrote on the social media platform X, ‘I strongly condemn the attack on the Italian base in Erbil. I just spoke with the Italian ambassador in Iraq. Fortunately, all our soldiers are safe and secure in the shelter.’

A Kurdish security source told the French news agency that on Wednesday, several drones over Erbil were shot down by international forces led by the United States, who are stationed at Erbil airport

On Wednesday night, loud explosions were also heard near Erbil airport, which are said to have been caused by air defense engagements with drones
